METEC’s contribution to Lithuania’s Border Patrol SUVs

The Lithuanian Border Guard fleet has recently received a significant upgrade with the addition of 17 brand-new Toyota Land Cruisers, each equipped with specialized modifications to boost patrol effectiveness.

METEC is proud to have contributed to this project by supplying the vehicles with durable and secure underbody skid plate sets (product code 835541). Designed for challenging terrain, these plates provide critical protection in demanding day-to-day patrol conditions.

This latest delivery is part of a long-term collaboration that began in 2018. Since then, we’ve supplied skid plates for over 200 vehicles used by Lithuanian border units.

Our official Lithuanian distributor, Mototoja, was the primary supplier for this procurement and has played a key role in integrating METEC products into the fleet. According to Karolis Urniežius, Toyota Sales Manager at Mototoja, METEC was selected based on consistently high product quality and responsive support. “There was only one formal requirement – thickness – but we needed longer underbody protection than standard. METEC stepped up and created a solution specifically for this deal,” Urniežius explained.

He also praised the process: “For every non-standard skid plate, we receive a test version to ensure it meets customer needs. Communication and support from METEC are always 5 out of 5.” Feedback from the Lithuanian Border Guard has been positive, with no reported issues regarding the skid plates, even under tough field conditions.

Each new Land Cruiser is outfitted with a specialized light and sound system, a programmable pre-heater and cabin heater, telemetry equipment, a dashcam, power inverter, and a magnetic searchlight. The total cost per vehicle is approximately €61,000.

The official handover ceremony took place at the Lithuanian Border Guard Headquarters and was attended by Border Guard leadership and representatives from Mototoja. The vehicles were blessed by Vilnius Police Chaplain Simas Maksvytis before being deployed to regions across Lithuania, including Vilnius, Varėna, the coastal area, and Pagėgiai.

The Lithuanian State Security Service plans to expand the fleet with 34 additional vehicles, bringing the total contract value to approximately €1.035 million.

At METEC, we view every project as more than just product delivery — it’s a meaningful contribution to safety, trust, and long-term value. Or as Mototoja puts it: “We’ve had multiple deals of different scale, and METEC has never let us down.”
